CHARLIE HARDCASTLE

My practice revolves generally around portraiture, the nature of romantic and platonic relationships and the representation of the human form. My work responds to my own identity and observations I make on the world and people around me. I use oil paints to represent these observations in a detailed, figurative way - dealing with the human form in a delicate manner but generally with a surrealist undertone; such as mirroring and doubling, or distortion and graphic/digital imagery to juxtapose the intimate organic nature of the bodies portrayed.

Alongside my own personal practice I also take on commissions for realistic drawings in pencil, ranging from portraits of people and pets to other sentimental images.
